Siblings Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani copped five medals at the recently held Caribbean Junior Badminton Championship (Carebaco) at the Wildey Gymnasium in Barbados. Young Priyanna, who won bronze at the Pan American Junior Championship in Jamaica earlier this year, competed in the Under-13 category instead of her regular Under-11, due to a lack of entries in the latter division.

Priyanna finished with two silver medals in the Under-13 Singles and Mixed Doubles.

Narayan, on the other hand, won a silver each in the Under-15 Doubles and Mixed Doubles, and bronze in the Under-15 Singles.

The other member of the team, Angelica Holder, also did well, despite not ‘medalling.’ She competed in the Under-17 category, reaching the quarter- finals of the Mixed Doubles with Jerico Bakhuis of Curacao, and winning one game in the Round-Robin phase of the Doubles with Kristi Reno-Singh of Trinidad and Tobago.

According to coach Gokarn Ramdhani, the players performed well and were lauded for their continued improvement.

Apart from Guyana, the other competing countries were Barbados, Puerto Rico, Curacao, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Suriname.
